This week we’ve got Christianna, fellow travel blogger and Harry Potter nut like me! I think we’re going to get along just fine 🙂
Hi, I’m Christianna from Expecto Adventures! I love books, cats, languages, beaches, tea, and of course, adventures! Even though I work full-time, I still try to travel as much as possible, and I just visited my 15th state!
1. First of all, what are your website and social media links?
2. How did you come up with your website name?
I am probably the biggest Harry Potter fan ever, so I wanted something that showed my love of HP and my love for travel. And who has better adventures than Harry and his friends anyway?
3. What more can you tell us about your blog? What are your goals or intentions for it?
I just started – like last week. I’m currently trying to get all my ideas down in one organized spot, and then work from there. I work fulltime, on a contract, so I can’t up and fly away whenever I please, but I try to make time for adventures as much as possible. Right now, my blog is a way for me to show my friends & family back home what I’m up to. Someday, I’d love to make travel blogging a fulltime job.
4. Can you provide us with a Throw Back Thursday picture of one of your favorite travel memories with an explanation?
Horseshoe Bend in Arizona. I thought the Grand Canyon was the most magnificent experience ever, until I saw Horseshoe Bend during my summer cross-country roadtrip. This picture doesn’t do the view justice, you’d have to see it for yourself! I’d love to go back and kayak down there in the Colorado River someday.
5. Which are your favorite and least favorite cities you’ve traveled to? Why?
My favorite city is Monterey, California, which I got to live/work in for over a year. It’s located on the coast of Central California, and it offers the best of both Northern and Southern California. There is something to do for everyone: golf, racing, animals, festivals, museums, water sports, etc. Monterey has also earned its title of Language Capital of the World, it has so many diverse communities and cultures! My most hated city would probably be Houston, Texas. I was on a cross-country roadtrip, during the summer, and Texas never ended! It was all flat, dry, miserable land, until boom, you hit Houston, and there’s so much traffic, with the worst drivers I have ever seen. everyone I encountered was rude, and I couldn’t find much to do in the entire city! I don’t think I’ll be going back there anytime soon.
6. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten? Where?
It wasn’t while traveling, but I did eat octopus when I was a kid. Eww!
7. Who are your travel idols?
Drifter Planet & Beautiful Fulfillment 🙂
8. What’s your best travel tip?
Pack a first aid kit!! This is so often overlooked, or taken out when the suitcase won’t zip shut, but you never know when it will come in handy, and you don’t want to find out!
9. Which is your favorite post you’ve written? Please provide a link.
10. What advice would you give to someone new to travel blogging?
I am brand new at blogging – I need your advice! Honestly though, if you want your blog to be read by someone other than your grandma, you need to have a decent theme, with a mobile-friendly layout, high quality images, good post content and you need to network! Join FB groups for travel bloggers – they are an invaluable wealth of information!
