Kapaa, HI

If anyone even needs convincing to visit Kauai, arguably one of Hawaii’s most picturesque and postcard-worthy islands, Kapaa, HI should give them plenty of good reasons. Located on the eastern edge of the island with access to beautiful Coconut Beach, shopping and dining, Kapaa provides these activities and more to satisfy each member of the family. Accommodations are widely available, including Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Coconut Beach, Aston Aloha Beach Hotel, and Kauai Beach Resort. It’s advisable to rent a car as soon as one steps off an airplane as public transportation is quite nonexistent. Overall the best time to visit is in late May, after the rainy winter months and before children get out of school.

Tacoma, WA

Both nature and city-lovers alike will adore a trip to Tacoma, WA. Located on the Puget Sound makes the city a perfect destination for boaters yet it also has a fun business district downtown with shopping and restaurants. Being Washington’s third largest city means there are plenty of accommodation options from AirBnB and the Auburn Guesthouse Inn on the less expensive side to Hotel Murano for those looking for a bit more luxury. One fun AirBnB option is Mrs. Jensen’s Bakery Suite, which is a refurbished former bakery from the 1920s with modern amenities.

Rapid City, SD

If you’re visiting Rapid City, SD, it might be a good idea to get accommodations near the city center where you can quickly access the transit system and the City View Trolley. However, you will still want to rent a car as to not miss the sights outside the city, including the Black Hills area with beautiful views of national parks, as well as Mount Rushmore, the Badlands National Park, and more. Being a city where tourists don’t stay for long, plenty of inexpensive accommodations are available such as Motel 6 Rapid City or Best Western Rapid City.

Moab, UT

Avid rock-climbers and hikers who haven’t yet been to Moab, UT, are missing out on the gorgeous terrain and hiking advantages. Home to the Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Moab has plenty of nature-oriented activities to offer its tourists as well as many luxury, budget, and AirBnB accommodations as well. Upscale hotels like Big Horn Lodge will run tourists at least $200 per night and up, while less expensive options such as Sleep Inn Moab and AirBnB are often around $150 or even less, depending on the season and room category booked.

Renton, WA

Tourists visiting nearby Seattle can find less expensive accommodations in Renton, WA. After spending time in the big city, visitors can enjoy a day on Lake Charles, take the kids to Henry Moses Aquatic Center, or spend time exploring Mount Rainier. Shoppers will enjoy Renton’s new shopping village, The Landing, with its 600,000 square feet of stores, restaurants, and more. Inexpensive accommodations such as Renton Inn and Hilton Garden Inn Seattle/Renton will be on average less than $100 per night, and thanks to there being no definitive tourist season, these rates are available year-round.
