What I Hope to See in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

In a couple weeks I’ll be heading on a last minute trip to sunny Mexico! The Mark Travel corporation is setting up a FAM trip for travel agents to stay for 4 nights at the Riu Jalisco resort and tour other various resorts around the area. We have to know what we’re selling! According to our current itinerary it looks like we have a free day, during which I hope to explore a bit of the downtown area. I’ve heard it’s safe enough to go on your own but hopefully I can make a new friend to tag along with me.

Here are some places I’m planning on checking out!

Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe – Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Nothing is more interesting to me than exploring a new church or basilica. Especially in an extremely religious country, such as Mexico, a church really can demonstrate a culture’s characteristics. I’m hoping I can get some pictures of the inside and that it’ll be quiet enough without any large crowd.

Mercado Municipal Río Cuale – Cuale River Flea Market

Uuuugh I love flea markets! Homemade goods, bright colors, fresh food, and playing the bartering game with various vendors can be the best part of any trip. Any souvenir I’ll get in this flea market would be better than some overpriced junk I’ll find in a resort.

Los Muertos beach

A little more sand for my collection!

Conchas Chinas beach

I have a feeling that I won’t be making it here as it’s further south than Los Muertos beach, but what I’ve read about it, it seems like quite a beautiful place! Crystal clear water and a view of the mountains is just what I hope to see.

The Malecón

A lovely little boardwalk with seahorse sculptures.

I suppose we’ll see how many of these bucket-list items I can check off when I update in March!

Have you ever been to Puerto Vallarta? Any suggestions for things to do or must-eat foods?
