Hey guys! This week I have a different kind of travel blogger – vlogger! Check out Alicia and make sure to tune into her YouTube channel!
I’m Alicia, producer of AMaeTV, a fun travel blog and YouTube channel. I’ve been traveling and hosting/ producing YouTube videos for quite a while now with a Cybersecurity company called SecureNinja. A few years ago I decided to take on a similar strategy to start a travel blog/ channel all of my own. So far I’ve produced short fun filled videos from Dubai, Bali, Singapore, Italy, Paris, Dublin, Las Vegas, Florida, California and more!
1. First of all, what are your website and social media links?
2. How did you come up with your website name?
My website name is a combination of my first initial and middle name. I thought it had a nice ring to it and kept the subject matter open in case I wanted to get into topics outside of travel. I love to ask other people what their nickname is using my same formula. Sometimes it works, sometime it doesn’t!
3. What more can you tell us about your blog? What are your goals or intentions for it?
I hope my blog can help people find their way along their journeys and the videos can give them a sneak peak into what a certain travel experience might be like. Right now I’m just focused producing killer content for my loyal followers and growing my audience to expand the minds of travelers new to the channel.
4. Can you provide us with a Throw Back Thursday picture of one of your favorite travel memories with an explanation?
This TBT picture is from San Francisco (obviously) just last year. My mind is always set on finding the perfect ‘travelgram’ shot and when I saw how this tree lined up perfectly with the bridge I knew I had to climb it! I seem to appear relaxed here but it was actually VERY tough to execute this shot. However, still totally worth it!
5. Which are your favorite and least favorite cities you’ve traveled to? Why?
My favorite city has definitely been Dublin, Ireland. As a city overall it was just the nicest, cleanest, easiest to get around town. A great place to experience relaxing travel. The people are friendly and the food is great, not to mention that it is full of a rich cultural heritage that is fun to experience first hand. Did I mention the Guinness?
6. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten? Where?
I’m not big on ‘strange’ foods that are not plant based, however, I’ll eat any natural fruits or veggies! Singapore and Asia in general has a great selection of exotic fruits. I famously taste the infamous Durian fruit in one of my Singapore videos and can still barely describe my reaction to it.
7. Who are your travel idols?
I would have to say my travel idols are the 4 guys who produce ‘High On Life’ on YouTube. They know how to have crazy fun while still making videos, and they definitely don’t take it too seriously. I’m also super jealous of them for having a 4 person team, I can’t imagine how much easier it is to get videos produced with a solid team like that in place!
8. What’s your best travel tip?
My best travel tip is definitely the one on how to avoid standing in long lines to see popular tourist destinations. I’ve been doing this trick for years but I first wrote about it in detail on my very first AMae.TV blog post about visiting the Statue of David in Florence. Since then I’ve been able to execute it in a few other videos to really show my audience how well the technique works!
9. Which is your favorite post you’ve written? Please provide a link.
My favorite post would have to be one of the most recent- Top 10 Things To Do In Naples, Italy. It is one of the first to include a full blog post surrounding the video that I made for it, and it is chock full of Italian street fun.
10. What advice would you give to someone new to travel blogging?
The advice I would give a new travel blogger is just to START. Don’t obsess over all the details (and there are SO many) about having the perfect photos, graphics, posts, SEO, etc. Just practice your blogging by getting it going and you will learn everything more and more as your blog grows.
