This week we’re speaking with the traveling couple, Nat and Rob!
1. First of all, what are your website and social media links?
Hi there!! Thanks Samantha for having us here! Our travel blog is www.loveandroad.com
You also can follow us on:
2. How did you come up with your website name?
It was a hard decision and took us almost three months to pick our blog name. It was such a difficult work that we even wrote a blog post about how to choose the perfect name for your website. As we are a couple, we want something that identify us and our choice to leave a nomadic marriage… So Love and Road came up as a perfect match!
3. What more can you tell us about your blog? What are your goals or intentions for it?
First of all we want to tell our story. Share feelings, thoughts and emotion, inspire people to travel more and better. Believe or not, in only 5 months of travelling and 3 months of blogging there is one person that already told us he had the courage to do a life changing trip because of us. We spend a weekend together and somehow Love and Road inspired him to leave everything behind and become a skipper in a boat that will sail through the Caribbean this summer. So I think we are in the right path.
And of course, try to earn some money! We are blogging with love, and putting lots of energy and effort on it. Hope we can get some sponsors or partner that believe in our dreams
4. Can you provide us with a Throw Back Thursday picture of one of your favorite travel memories with an explanation?
One of our favorite trip and place so far is Cabo de Gata, a Secret Destination in Spain. It´s a natural park along the mediterranean coast. The nature there is stunning! The sea, the mountains, the warm sun kissing our skin and strong wind blowing our hair… This special feeling you can only feel there. Most of the tourists (even some spanish people) don´t know about this park, so be prepared to explore it all by yourself and take amazing pictures like this.
5. Which are your favorite and least favorite cities you’ve traveled to? Why?
Our Favorite?! Hummm… such a difficult choice! We pick Barcelona, after some trips to this amazing spanish city we finally learned how to enjoy Barcelona Like a Local.
The Love and Road least favorite city is Fes in Morocco. After discovering the enchants of Sahara Desert, the Secrets of Marrakech and beautiful beaches in Essaouira, Fes didn’t shine so much. But if you are traveling to Morocco it´s worth the visit.
6. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten? Where?
The strangest food we have ever eaten was two weeks ago in Bohol, Philippines. We went to some local eatery and for the first time we tried Jack fruit + Ginger + Coconut Soup. And believe or not it was delicious. At the beginning thought it would be sweet (like a dessert), but actually it had a savoury taste, a delicious taste. In Brazil (where we are from) Jackfruit is not so common and if you are going to eat it, it will be sweet, never in lunch meal. That soup was surprisingly strange and good! We ate it again on the other days!
7. Who are your travel idols?
Wooowwww… So many names… We follow many bloggers but some of them are really inspiring and have a special place in our travel story: www.hecktictravels.com, www.justonewayticket.com, www.theprofessionalhobo.com, www.uncorneredmarket.com, www.alexinwanderland.com and www.hippie-inheels.com.
8. What’s your best travel tip?
Rob`s advice: Put effort in your planning. A well planned trip turns out to be a more enjoyable one.
Nat`s tip: Fall in love! Enjoy every moment, everything, every place, food or person. Do your trip with an open heart and full of emotion. I am sure you won’t regret it.
9. Which is your favorite post you’ve written?
It´s hard to choose, but my latest post (House & Pet Sitting – 10 Lessons for Free Accommodation) really stole my heart. In this blog post I was able to put together really useful information for travellers and also express my feeling about the amazing experiences we had while house sitting.
The mix of emotion and travel tips makes it perfect! And the pictures of the pets we looked after are gorgeous. Everybody love them, hope you too! 😉
10. What advice would you give to someone new to travel blogging?
Read a lot about blogging and travel! Do some research, check your favorite writers, what you like and dislike. That way you can build a knowledge and start your own path.
Also be prepared to work a lot. Travel blogging is not as glamorous as most people think. You will be in front of a computer for endless hours. You will dream about coding, SEO, Social Media and travel planning. But if you love it, you will be super happy!
Hope you like our little talk! All the best and safe travels!
